One-Page Summary
Purpose of Testing
This annual laboratory evaluation documents overall health at age 79 and continues the establishment of long-term baseline health before the onset of the systemic inflammatory illness in 2021. The report demonstrates excellent stability across nearly every major body system and provides another valuable reference point for evaluating future laboratory trends.
Major Findings
Metabolic Health
Results
- Glucose: 90 mg/dL
- Hemoglobin A1c: 5.1%
Interpretation
Glucose metabolism was excellent. Hemoglobin A1c improved significantly from 5.7% the previous year to 5.1%, placing it well within the normal reference range and indicating no laboratory evidence of impaired glucose regulation.
Kidney Function
Results
- BUN: 18 mg/dL
- Creatinine: 0.82 mg/dL
- eGFR: 84 mL/min/1.73 m²
Interpretation
Kidney function improved compared with the previous year. Creatinine decreased while estimated kidney filtration increased, demonstrating excellent renal function for age.
Liver Function
Results
- AST: 24 IU/L
- ALT: 15 IU/L
- Alkaline Phosphatase: 64 IU/L
- Bilirubin: 0.3 mg/dL
Interpretation
All liver function tests remained comfortably within normal reference ranges, demonstrating continued healthy liver function.
Complete Blood Count
Results
- WBC: 4.3 ×10³/µL
- Hemoglobin: 13.3 g/dL
- Hematocrit: 39.7%
- Platelets: 223 ×10³/µL
Interpretation
Blood counts remained stable and normal. Compared with previous years, there was no evidence of anemia, infection, or hematologic abnormality. These values further strengthen the healthy baseline established before the inflammatory illness of 2021.
Lipid Profile
Results
- Total Cholesterol: 189 mg/dL
- LDL Cholesterol: 107 mg/dL
- HDL Cholesterol: 73 mg/dL
- Triglycerides: 45 mg/dL
Interpretation
The lipid profile remained very favorable.
Particularly noteworthy were:
- Exceptionally high HDL cholesterol
- Very low triglycerides
- Only mildly elevated LDL cholesterol
This pattern continued the favorable lipid phenotype observed in previous years and would remain remarkably consistent throughout much of the Health Inventory.
Thyroid Function
Result
- TSH: 2.410 μIU/mL
Interpretation
Thyroid function remained well within the normal reference range, indicating stable thyroid regulation.
Prostate Screening
Result
- PSA: 2.7 ng/mL
Interpretation
PSA remained stable and within the normal reference range, unchanged from the previous year’s result.
Urinalysis
Routine urinalysis was essentially normal.
Findings included:
- No protein
- No glucose
- No blood
- No infection
- Clear urine
The only minor abnormality was a urine pH of 8.0, slightly above the laboratory reference range. In the absence of any other urinary abnormalities, this isolated finding was not clinically significant.
Overall Interpretation
This report documents excellent overall health at age 79. Kidney function, liver function, blood counts, thyroid function, and prostate screening all remained normal and stable. Glucose regulation improved significantly, with Hemoglobin A1c returning to the normal range. The lipid profile continued to demonstrate a favorable combination of high HDL cholesterol and very low triglycerides despite mildly elevated LDL cholesterol. Overall, this report reflects excellent physiologic health and provides another strong baseline before the major health changes that began in 2021.
Longitudinal Significance
This report contributed to the long-term trend analysis of:
- Blood counts
- Kidney function
- Liver function
- Lipid profile
- Glucose metabolism
- Thyroid function
- PSA
- Urinalysis
It confirms continued stability across all major organ systems while documenting further improvement in glucose metabolism.
Clinical Importance
⭐⭐ Strong Baseline Study
This report demonstrates excellent overall health and reinforces the pattern of stable organ function, favorable metabolic health, and consistent cardiovascular markers prior to the inflammatory illness that developed five years later.
Key Changes Since Previous Report
- Hemoglobin A1c improved from 5.7% to 5.1%, returning to the normal range.
- Kidney function improved with lower creatinine and higher eGFR.
- HDL cholesterol increased from 64 to 73 mg/dL.
- Triglycerides decreased from 53 to 45 mg/dL.
- LDL cholesterol increased slightly from 102 to 107 mg/dL while remaining only mildly elevated.
- Blood counts, liver function, thyroid function, PSA, and urinalysis remained stable.

Observation
After reviewing your laboratory reports from 2013 through 2016, a consistent picture emerges:
- Kidney function remained stable or improved.
- Liver function remained normal every year.
- Blood counts were consistently within normal limits.
- Glucose metabolism was excellent, with Hemoglobin A1c improving to 5.1% in 2016.
- Your lipid profile developed into a recognizable long-term pattern of high HDL, very low triglycerides, and only mildly elevated LDL.
This four-year series establishes an exceptionally strong pre-2021 baseline, making the later inflammatory illness easier to recognize and interpret because there is clear documentation of your health before that turning point.
