3.2 Hyperlipidemia

Current Status (July 2026):
Hyperlipidemia remains a stable, long-term pattern characterized by elevated LDL cholesterol with very high HDL cholesterol and low triglycerides. Previous statin therapy (Crestor) was discontinued due to adverse effects. Current clinical focus is determining cardiovascular risk and appropriate management strategy using the complete lipid profile, ApoB, inflammation status, and overall health context.

3.3 History of Atrial Fibrillation

I have been careful here because your atrial fibrillation history is important, but we have fewer detailed records available than we do for your lipid and inflammatory history. 3.5 Hypothyroidism

3.6 Autoimmune Serology

I would be careful with the wording here. The purpose of this page is not to diagnose autoimmune disease, but to document the presence of autoimmune markers, their timeline, and their relationship (or lack of relationship) to active inflammation.

Current Status (July 2026):
Autoimmune testing demonstrates persistent immune reactivity with ANA positivity (1:1280 homogeneous pattern) and elevated antiphospholipid IgA/IgM antibodies. However, inflammatory markers (CRP and ESR) remain normal, and there is currently no laboratory evidence of active systemic inflammation. Ongoing rheumatology evaluation is focused on determining the clinical significance of these findings and establishing an appropriate monitoring plan.

Overview

Autoimmune serology refers to laboratory testing that identifies antibodies produced by the immune system that react against components of the body’s own cells or tissues.

This section documents a history of positive autoimmune markers, including:

  • Positive antinuclear antibody (ANA)

History

2021 — Initial Inflammatory Episode

During 2021, the patient experienced a significant systemic inflammatory illness characterized by:

  • Marked decline in overall health
  • Severe muscle and joint pain
  • Elevated inflammatory markers:
    • ESR elevated (peak reported approximately 71)
    • CRP elevated (peak reported approximately 32)
  • Normocytic anemia
  • Positive ANA identified during evaluation

The underlying cause of the inflammatory episode was not definitively established.


2022 — Immune Mediator Evaluation

Because of ongoing concern regarding immune activation, additional testing was performed through Quest Diagnostics.

  • Urine N-methylhistamine: normal
  • Urine prostaglandin metabolite: normal
Mild Abnormal Finding

    • Mildly elevated

2025–2026 — Expanded Autoimmune Evaluation

Further testing demonstrated stronger autoimmune serologic findings.

3.7 History of Systemic Inflammatory Illness (2021-2022)

Current Status (July 2026):
The severe systemic inflammatory illness experienced in 2021 appears clinically resolved. Inflammatory markers (CRP and ESR) have remained normal for several years. However, persistent autoimmune serologic findings, including high-titer ANA and antiphospholipid antibodies, continue to be monitored by rheumatology to determine whether they represent residual immune activation or an evolving autoimmune tendency.

Overview

In 2021, I experienced a severe systemic inflammatory illness characterized by widespread inflammation, significant decline in physical function, muscle and joint pain, fatigue, and the development of normocytic anemia. Laboratory testing demonstrated markedly elevated inflammatory markers, including ESR and CRP.

The specific underlying cause of the inflammatory episode was not definitively established. However, extensive evaluation identified immune system activation, including a positive ANA. Over time, the inflammatory process resolved, with normalization of CRP and ESR and significant recovery of strength and function.

This event represents the most significant health decline in my adult life and became the turning point that led to a more comprehensive understanding of my health, lifestyle changes, and the development of the Health Inventory.
